Company History
Background

Bloom Technology, the company developing a next-generation layer-1 public blockchain solution Locus Chain, was founded in 1994 in Seoul, Korea, by Sang Yoon Lee, a pioneer of the Korean video games industry.

Phantagram Limited, a video games company co-founded by Sang Yoon, released several video games to worldwide acclaim, including a hack & slash title 'Ninety Nine Nights' and a franchise 'Kingdom Under Fire.' One of the video games in the series, 'Kingdom Under Fire: Crusaders,' was awarded the Korea Presidential Award, one of the most prestigious accolades in the field. Microsoft published most of the games developed by Phantagram, facilitating the distribution of gaming IPs and garnering a devoted following for KUF and other titles.

The company also spearheaded the development of services for video game developers, including a tailor-made 3D game engine solution, which was licensed to Microsoft, and a proprietary data distribution technology co-developed by Blueside Inc, a Korean video games production company.

In 2017, Phantagram Limited rebranded to Bloom Technology and initiated the development of a public blockchain protocol Locus Chain. The newly-established company has taken out 2 granted patents (PICs) and 8 applied patents for its brainchild tech, Locus Chain. In 2022, Bloom Technology rolled out Gamechain, Locus Chain’s mainnet environment which can replace central game servers with its blockchain node network. Bloom Technology has already launched the game on Steam in December 2022 and continues to overhaul its gameplay and assets.

As the CEO of Bloom Technology, Sang Yoon Lee contributes to both the blockchain and video games industries. Recently, he was assigned the position of the Vice Chairman of the Korea Blockchain Association to foster the proliferation of the industry in the region.
